SHORT SYNOPSIS
Lana, a shy but fearless teenager, runs away from home to attend her first party. She gets a ride, but the car breaks down halfway there. Lana then decides to walk to the party. Set in southern Brazil, Drunken Car is a poetic coming-of-age story about desire and self-discovery. Ultimately, it's a meditation on the blurred lines of becoming.
SYNOPSIS
Drunken Car is a coming-of-age drama short film set in the countryside of southern Brazil, where Lana, a shy but daring teenager, sneaks out from home to attend her first party. Lana shares this adventure with Julia, her best friend, and two older boys, Ike and Rafa. After spending some time stranded in the sideroad and discovering a few things about herself, Lana decides to walk to the party. Drunken Car is a poetic tale around Lana’s discovery of her own sexuality. It is a tale about desire. Also, it is a passage about putting yourself in danger, taking wild risks, and discovering limits. Ultimately, it is a tale about walking to the edge of a cliff and taking a look down.
Drunken Car had its premiere at Kinoforum - International Short Film Festival of Sao Paulo - in August 2025.
